# Authentication and Encryption

## Authentication

Transmit supports CDN authentication for the following formats:

- Akamai
- Akamai Edge
- Shared secret
- Custom Authentication

**General Workflow for CDN Authentication**

1. Set up a Configuration in the Transmit platform
2. Integrate Transmit Prefix in your player/CMS
3. For each playlist request, append the file path to the Transmit prefix along with the auth token information
  1. Format: **[TransmitPrefix]/[PathToAsset]?[AuthToken]&[PlaylistParams]**
4. Transmit maintains file path and auth token information in the Playback URL returned to the client

## DRM

Transmit provides full SSAI capabilities, including InStream ad formats, while maintaining industry standard DRM encryption protocols down to each individual user.

Full support for the following providers is offered in our console as well:

- License servers:
  - Widevine
  - PlayReady
  - FairPlay
  - ClearKey
